This sale is for a Unique Black and White Photograph mounted on card from the famous and revered photographer Penny Tweedie. Signed to the rear. Her work has been portrayed in the National Portrait Gallery (which is depicted here) amongst others (see below). This is a vintage Exhibition Photo from a private collection depicting St Martins in The Field taken from the mosaic floor in the National Portrait Gallery London . Dates to the 1960sThe photographs have come from the estate of Penny who sadly passed away in January 2011. Penny Tweedie, was a pioneering photographer who covered war and conflicts around the world, from Bangladesh and Vietnam to Uganda and East Timor. She was also an award-winning chronicler of Australian Aboriginal culture, and her book Spirit of Arnhem Land (1998) is recognized as a classic. The Photograph is original and probably unseen.. It is signed to the rear and stamped to the front with the Royal Photographic Society stamp which is “R.P.S Associate 1960”. Mounted on card. The Card is 50 x 40cm. There is some bumping to corners, fading and some scrape specks, and some marks aound the edges where it may have been re-glued at some stage on the corners only – see My photographs in the listing. Her portrait portfolio included Diana Princess of Wales, John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Germaine Greer and Colonel Muammar Gaddafi.. Penny Tweedie was an award winning photographer and In 1999 she was awarded a Walkley for photojournalism for the publication of works in Fairfax’s Good Weekend magazine. She was one of the few official photographers of the 2000 Olympics in Australia.
